Josie sees her room painted for first time

Josie got to see her new bedroom painted for the first time last night.  She asked for blue, so blue is what she got. This video is something I will always cherish!  At least we got one color right.

Green and Gray

Green and Gray.... The latest two colors to hit the walls.  The pictures in this post do not do these colors justice at all.  Today is a gloomy rainy day, and the only light to illuminate the walls are the shop lights which gives these "cosmopolitan olive" walls a terrible yellow tint.... but with that being said, it's still very green and I guess I'm going to have to get used to the fact that my husband likes dark, bold, masculine colors, lol.

 And the color too, depends on the angle you are looking at it from.  For instance, the green to the far left in the picture above is the exact same green on the stairs and the wall behind it.  And just by me moving a foot or two over, the stairs now appear a shade lighter, which honestly, it closer to the shade it's supposed to look!

 The pictures below are all of the master bathroom.  The first one is taken without the flash, but all the others are with the flash.  The true color lies somewhere between the two.  "Granite Peak" is the color on the walls here, and I absolutely love it.  This is also going in the master bedroom, and is already on the walls in the bonus room upstairs (I just forgot to take a picture!)

 Now that the walls are painted, maybe we can get some tile in this room!!!

A little color???

If the house from the outside looks rustic and craftsman like, the inside so far is anything but... We've still a long ways to go, and with a very short time table to get there, are starting to stress out about finishing and moving in by the deadline the bank has set for us.  Late last week, the house was primed and this past weekend the painting commenced.  Starting first with the ceilings and all the rooms to be left white.  The paint goes on a whole lot easier than that primer did, but it's still a two man job (at minimum) and very time consuming for first timers!  The first two pictures below are of the living room. 

 

Jeffrey and I went back and forth on whether this room was going to be dark blue, or mossy green, but this cosmopolitan olive (or the closest that Sherwin Williams could match it) is the what we finally came to agreeing on.  So far I really like it, which is good.  I don't think Jeffrey has any plans on repainting this one anytime soon!

 The first room we actually painted was Charlotte's future bedroom.  I figured that pink was the lightest of our colors (yes you read that right) and would be the easiest to fix any blunders, over-spray or other issues while figuring out how to spray it without messing up those pretty white ceilings.

 We painted this room Saturday night after it got dark, using the shop lights, and it was a very pretty light pink.  Somehow during the night, through the drying process the paint fairy must have stopped in and twinkled a little 'Pepto Bismal' coloring in the room!  It was so bright yesterday it was almost too much to stand.  Today on the other hand, with the daylight coming through the window, it was back to a very pretty, yet very pink - pink :)  Azalea flower to be exact.

Josie's room was next in line, and since Jeffrey had to work Sunday afternoon, I took it upon myself to start her room on my own.  After I did some ceiling touch up from the night before in Charlotte's room, I gathered my things to start in Josie's.  Thankfully Tiffany stopped in for some much appreciated help and company!  All the other rooms had been sprayed.... I wasn't about to even get near that sprayer!  I used my cutting tool to do around the ceiling, and we rolled the color on the walls and brushed in the corners.  I think we did an amazing job, and I LOVE this color!  

 By the way - Josie insisted her room was going to be blue.  She wanted a very dark, very navy - almost metallic blue.  She's crazy about blue!  Her daddy and I thought this 'Jamaica Bay' was a good compromise.  I hope she likes it.  I want to bring her in this week sometime and video tape her reaction to it.  I think it will be something we will always appreciate.

And I loved the color so much, I wanted it in my laundry room too!  Such a bright and lively cheery color for the not so fun task of dirty clothes, lol!

Knockdown

 The seams and screws were taped and mudded.  Then the basement was sprayed with knockdown.  After seeing how great the results look, I wish we'd opted for this throughout the entire house.  Oh well, I guess hindsight is 20/20.  After the knockdown went on, it was time to clean up and get ready to paint.  I'm just thankful for my wonderful, cheerful help! ;)

Got a little mud?

All the sheetrock's been hung, and now it's time for the messy part... The MUD!  This is the part that is going to take the longest, because every cold day and rainy day we've had makes the mud dry slow, and keeps the workers from being able to build up the corners and holes they way it needs to be.  That's okay though - because paint is next, and I'm hoping enough time will pass to get Jeffrey to change his mind on the smoke blue he's determined to paint this great room.....

 

 

Oh - and yes, that's our new stove sitting in the plastic there in the picture.  The garage doors are going in today, and the prefinished pine is supposed to be delivered next week!  I can hardly wait to get the cabinets started!

 

 

 

Sheetrock - Day 2

Mike and his son came out on Sunday and started hanging the sheetrock.  They were able to hang both of the kids bedrooms upstairs and the ceiling to the bonus room.  Today, they came out after they finished a job in Chesapeake and finished hanging the upstairs bath, Hall, linen closet, the main floor hall and foyer ceiling, and at least one round in just about each room.  Tomorrow will be their first full day on site with a full crew and they hope to hang the rest of the house in the next two to three days.  I'm looking forward to seeing the progress!
